Philadelphia Tax Amnesty Program

I received an email for a reader requesting that I devote a post to the Philadelphia Tax Amnesty program.  Receiving a request from a reader is a huge compliment and I am happy to oblige.  The amnesty program will expire on June 25, 2010 so time is limited.  This is a great opportunity for individuals and businesses who are behind on their tax payments to get current without paying penalties and having half of the interest waived.

You may be wondering why Philadelphia is having a tax amnesty program for the first time in 25 years.  Due to the current economic climate this could be a win-win for everyone.  The city needs revenue and this gives taxpayers a chance to pay taxes due without any penalties and only a portion of the interest due.  Amnesty programs have proven successful in the past for this reason.  If you have any questions about the program you can view the frequently asked questions portion of the website and obtain telephone numbers to call as well by going to the web page Philadelphia Tax Amnesty
